Free Stuff

There are literally thousands of exercises and practices that can be used to help a person overcome problems and create better lives for themselves. Many of them need detailed instruction or to be tailored to meet a person's specific concerns. However there are some practices and exercises that are so fundamental to personal development that almost anyone can benefit from applying them.

As time permits some of these fundamental exercises and practices will be added to this section of the web site so that they are easily available to you without cost. All we ask is that you send us an email to let us know a little about yourself. And of course we would appreciate any comments, complaints or suggestions about the material presented here. 

Becoming curious about sensation

Scientists studying the way our bodies and brains interact have come to the understanding that our bodies make up most of what we call our unconscious mind. However we have learned to live in a way that overemphasizes thinking, achieving goals and describing things at the expense of experiencing life in the present moment. We strongly emphasize being productive but have forgotten why we are working so hard. We look outside ourselves for things we can get or do that will make our lives worth living. What we are actually wanting is to come home to our own bodies and to experience the sensations of being alive. This exercise will help you become more curious about your sensations without requiring you to judge them or make them different or needing to do anything the 'right' way. 

Starting a simple daily mediation practice

A daily meditation practice has many benefits. There are lots of books written about this. May I recommend 'Full Catastrophe Living' by Jon Kabat-Zin, Ph.D.. Meanwhile I have included some notes on a very simple form of mindfulness that you can start practicing today.
